What is a Bitcoin ETF?
In short: A Bitcoin ETF is an exchange-traded fund that tracks bitcoin's price. In the United States, spot bitcoin ETFs were approved in January 2024. In Europe you mostly find ETNs that track its price.
Advantages
No crypto wallet to manage, bought in a regular brokerage account, within stock market rules.
Drawbacks
Annual fees, not owning the bitcoin directly, and sometimes restrictions depending on your broker or account type.
The risk stays the same
A bitcoin ETF falls exactly like bitcoin. The wrapper changes, not the volatility.
