Crypto cycles: bull runs and bear markets
In short: Cryptos have gone through marked cycles: strong rises (bull runs) followed by falls of 70 to 85% (bear markets), roughly every four years so far. But with only a few cycles, nothing guarantees it will continue.
Past cycles
Records in 2013, 2017 and 2021, then new crashes. Many altcoins never got back to their highs.
The cycle trap
The better known a pattern is, the more people try to front-run it, which can change it. The crypto market has also changed with the arrival of ETFs.
What you can do
Don't invest more than you would accept to see divided by three or four, and don't borrow to buy.
