What is DeFi (decentralised finance)?
In short: DeFi covers applications that let you lend, borrow or swap cryptos without an intermediary, through programs running on a blockchain. It sometimes offers big yields, with significant risks of hacks and losses.
How it works
"Smart contracts" automatically execute the rules: for example, depositing cryptos into a pool to earn a share of trading fees.
The risks
Code flaws (billions have been stolen in hacks), abandoned projects, very volatile tokens, and no customer service to fix a mistake.
Projects tracked by the radar
Uniswap, Aave, Chainlink and other DeFi-related tokens: their expected volatility is in the table.
Today's numbers
| Asset | Price | Expected move over a month | Risk of a drop of more than 10% |
| Uniswap | $6.98 | ±22% | 29% |
| Aave | $128.98 | ±18% | 26% |
| Chainlink | $10.64 | ±17% | 22% |
