How to recognise a crypto scam

In short: Be wary of any promise of guaranteed gains, anyone who contacts you first, any request for your recovery phrase, and any platform not registered with your country's regulator. A single one of these signs is reason enough to stop.

Common scams

A fake adviser helping you "invest" on a fake platform, a fake site copying a real one, a token abandoned by its creators (rug pull), a fake giveaway asking you to send crypto first, romance scams that turn into an "investment opportunity".

The golden rule

Nobody legitimate will ever ask for your recovery phrase (12 or 24 words). Whoever has it can empty your wallet.

If you are a victim

Don't pay anything more, even to "unlock" your gains: that is a second scam. Report it to the authorities in your country and contact your bank.
